Extending the Lexus RX to the RX L size wasn’t quite enough but transitioning to the new 2024 Lexus TX will be. This new Lexus SUV shares a platform with the Toyota Grand Highlander.
With the TX and Grand Highlander entering the market together, we see both Lexus and Toyota offering different customer bases exactly what they want. The desire for larger midsize three-row crossovers is strong, and these two models will give us the bigger and more powerful SUVs that we’ve been looking for from these lauded brands.
Do we actually know anything about this Lexus SUV?
Most of what we know about the new Lexus TX is conjecture and derivations of what’s found in the new Grand Highlander. Still, knowing these two models are being produced on the same platform, and using previous data with platform mates, we can produce some educated guesses as to what this new Lexus SUV will offer when it arrives.
As for size, we expect this new SUV to be more spacious than the outgoing RX L. The legroom for the third row will need to be much greater than the 23.5 inches which was found in the RX L. With a more spacious and accommodating cabin, we’ll enjoy a much more comfortable SUV that can easily become the vehicle that many want to drive.
Should the tech match other Lexus SUVs?
Typically, tech features are shared across all models of a brand. The Lexus GX is about as close to the size of what the TX should be as we can expect. The GX includes a 10.3-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an integrated navigation system. The RX is a little more advanced wit ha 14.0-inch screen, which should arrive in the new TX. When you think about it, the GX is a bit of a dinosaur anyway.
When it comes to safety, the new TX will enjoy the benefits o the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite of items. These features include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, motorcycle detection, and intersection support. You’ll also find lane departure alert with steering assist, an all-speed adaptive cruise control with curve speed management, and automated assist for parallel parking, back-up parking, and forward-facing parking. You might not have to be inside the vehicle to park this impressive new Lexus luxury SUV.
Should this new Lexus SUV be efficient?
Most likely, the new Lexus TX will use the same powertrain as the Toyota Grand Highlander, which employs a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder hybrid powertrain to produce 340 horsepower. This system should use a six-speed automatic transmission and AWD, but that might be an antiquated setup and not what we want in our new luxury SUV. If the TX is as efficient as the Grand Highlander, we could enjoy up to 28 mpg combined while driving this new Lexus SUV. Toyota and Lexus are employing hybrid powertrains in almost all new vehicle, which means we should expect the same in these two three-row SUVs.
Where is this SUV being built?
Toyota has a large factory in Indiana where the new Grand Highlander is being built. The new TX will share this factory and be assembled on the line next to the Toyota SUV. This makes the Lexus TX another American-made vehicle from this brand which has had several models built at this factory in the United States. We’ll see these two new three-row SUVs sometimes in the latter part of this year or at the beginning of 2024, depending on how soon Toyota can get this SUV up and running.
We’ll know more closer to the release date
The new 2024 Lexus TX should be a roomy three-row SUV that offers the family-friendly driving experience we want to enjoy out on the road. Toyota has a long history of withholding information until it nearly time for the vehicle to arrive. When this new Lexus SUV appears, it should give us an excellent three-row alternative to the Lexus GX and LX models.
Will you look for this new luxury SUV when it arrives? Maybe you need more information before diving in headfirst; thankfully, we should have more information in the next few months ensuring you learn everything you want to know about this new luxury SUV. Could the Lexus TX become the Lexus SUV that sits in your driveway while you plan your next road trip for the family to enjoy a wonderful weekend outing together.
