The Dodge Challenger is one of the most powerful muscle cars on the market and it continues to up the ante with top speeds that rival any production car ever made. The Challenger comes with several trims and engine choices, but the fastest trim is the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. Reaching a speed of 203 MPH, this trim is the fastest GT production car.
Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody can reach speeds of 203 MPH, which just beats the 198 MPH of the Chevy Camaro ZL1 Coupe and soundly beats the 180 MPH of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. This trim of the Dodge Challenger boasts a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Hellcat Redeye Widebody is capable of 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque. It can hit 60 MPH from zero in 3.4 seconds and can run a quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds at 131 MPH. The speedometer of this car reads up to 220 MPH but it so far has been clocked at 203 MPH.
Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock
The Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock trim nabs the title of the most powerful production V8 and the fastest quarter-mile muscle car. It features a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that makes 807 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque, which is significantly more than the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with its 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque. The next closest rival is the Chevy Camaro ZL1 Coupe with 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. The Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock is the ultimate drag racing muscle car with standard drag radials and unique features like the SRT Power Chiller and Race Cooldown. The SRT Super Stock has a slightly faster zero to 60 speed than the Redeye at 3.25 seconds and a slightly faster quarter-mile at 10.5 seconds. It only loses to the Redeye in the top speed category.
Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
In third place for the fastest trim of the Dodge Challenger is the SRT Hellcat. This is the first level trim of the SRT family and it too features a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine, but it’s paired standard with a six-speed manual transmission. This combination is good for 717 horsepower and 656 pound-feet of torque. Like the other top trims, the SRT Hellcat includes an after-run chiller to quickly cool the engine after a performance drive.
Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack
The R/T Scat Pack is considered a midlevel trim of the Dodge Challenger, and it comes with a 6.4-liter V8 that makes up to 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The Widebody package is also available with this trim, which gives it a wider, more aggressive stance. Even though this trim is quite a bit less powerful than the three fastest trims of the Dodge Challenger, it’s still plenty fast and is a great entry-level trim to this impressive muscle car.
The Dodge Challenger continues to challenge its rivals with top horsepower and speed numbers compared to any other production car.
