The CX-30 Adds a New Edition and Even More Standard

There was already plenty to love about the new Mazda CX-30. Now you’ll have even more reasons to want one. Read on to see the automaker’s latest announcement about this compact crossover SUV.

A New Carbon Edition

Mazda recently announced a new Carbon Edition CX-30 to its crossover lineup that includes its smaller sibling, the Mazda CX-3.

What sets the CX-30 Carbon Edition apart is its new Polymetal Gray exterior with black side mirrors and black 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. Inside, you’ll find premium red leather seating and soft-touch surfaces, as well as a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. It also gets an upgrade to a Bose 12-speaker audio system.

Under the hood, the Carbon Edition CX-30 offers a choice between the 186-horsepower, 2.5L inline-four featured on the base S trim. The optional 2.5L turbocharged powertrain bumps the output to 250-horsepower with a 0-60 time of just over 5-1/2 seconds.

What Else is New With the CX-30?

Mazda is making its i-Activ all-wheel drive standard on every 2022 CX-30 trim. Having standard AWD makes the Mazda crossover more competitive with models like the Subaru Crosstrek and Kia Seltos.

All-wheel drive remains optional on most other front-wheel-drive models in the Mazda lineup, including the CX-3. Adding AWD to other FWD vehicles bumps the base price up by roughly $1,350.

And speaking of pricing, SUV buyers can expect to pay more for a CX-30 in 2022, although the addition of standard AWD only increases the base S trim price by $150. Other non-turbocharged trims will see a higher jump in prices between $550 and $1,800. The CX-30 base Turbo gets a small $150 bump, while the Premium and Premium Plus turbo trims will go up by $350.

The price increases put it above the Crosstrek and Seltos; however, it offers a more advanced set of safety features, and roof rails will be standard on every trim except the base S. And, being a Mazda, the CX-30 delivers better responsiveness and sportier handling than just about any other small SUV on the road.

Mazda’s announced list prices for the CX-30 are as follows:

  • 2.5 S: $22,200
  • 2.5 S Select: 24,600
  • 2.5 S Preferred: $27,650
  • 2.5 S Carbon Edition: $28,290
  • 2.5 S Premium: $30,500
  • 2.5 Turbo: $30,200
  • 2.5 Turbo Premium: $32,800
  • 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus: $34,400

A New Hue in ‘22

Shoppers looking at a new Mazda SUV will find a new color option in Platinum Quartz Metallic. The new hue isn’t expected to add to the price of the vehicle, but popular premium paint colors like Soul Red Crystal Metallic, Machine Gray Metallic, and Snowflake White Pearl Mica will still cost between $395-595 extra.

Coming Soon to a Showroom Near You

Mazda says the 2022 CX-30 models should begin showing up in U.S. showrooms in February. If you’ve been longing for a red leather interior at an exceptionally reasonable price, plan a visit to your local Mazda dealer and get your hands on a CX-30 Carbon Edition.
