From Geneva to Shanghai, New York to Los Angeles, there are hundreds of auto shows worldwide for car enthusiasts to choose from every year.
Here are some of the best auto show events from 2018 that took place right here in the United States.
2018 Los Angeles Auto Show
The Los Angeles Auto Show held in early December at the Los Angeles Convention Center, is the first major North American auto show of the season. The 2018 lineup represented the present and future of the auto industry -from gas-powered SUV’s and pick-up trucks like the 2020 Lincoln Aviator and the much-anticipated 2020 Jeep Gladiator, to sleek electric cars like the BMW Vision iNext. As for sedans the Mazda3, Volvo S60, Toyota Prius and Kia’s Soul hatchback made their mark.
2018 Philadelphia Auto Show
Held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center at the end of January this is one of the oldest auto shows in the world. With concept, classic, luxury and exotic cars –there was something for everyone in 2018. And the Philadelphia Auto Show has one of the largest collections of exotic supercars and hypercars in the country. If you were there in 2018 you may have seen the most expensive and luxurious car in the world -the Bugatti Chiron –with a price tag of a whopping $2.7 million!
2018 ChicagoAuto Show
The nation’s largest and longest running auto show is held in the Windy City every February at the McCormick Place. As usual, in 2018 there were 1,000’s of trucks, cars and SUVs on display, including the 2018 Fiat 500, 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid. And then there was a car with a little extra edge to tackle the snowy northern conditions-the Nissan 370Zki–with front skis and tracks on the back –quite a sight to behold!
2018 Detroit Auto Show
In 2018 trucks were the rage at the Detroit Auto Show, with the unveiling of the 2019 all-new Silverado truck, the F2019 Ford Ranger pickup, and the 2019 Ram 1500. And then an electric concept car from China’s state-owned Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) made a grand entrance -the Enverge-that can apparently travel more than 370 miles on a single charge. 2018 New York International Auto Show
Held at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan from March 30 through April 8, it’s considered the last auto show of the season. 2018 saw an impressive display of brand new cars, old cars, concept cars and even some supercars. SUV’s and pickups had a strong presence –despite not being the usual type of vehicles you see negotiating NY city streets. And there was a good selection of electric cars, from the newly-electrified version of a classic Mini Cooper, the Rimac C Two, to the Genesis Essentia Concept.
