The Nissan Leaf Grabs Plus Performance

The Nissan Leaf Grabs Plus Performance

You’re probably not looking to the Nissan Leaf as the exciting sports car that you want to drive, but you can look at this car as the right electric vehicle for the drive. Nissan has recently unveiled a new version of the Leaf at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and it has more of what you’re looking for in an electric vehicle. In other markets, this new Leaf will be called the Leaf e+, but in North America, we will get to know this car simply as the Leaf Plus.

The Nissan Leaf Plus Makes Driving Better

This new Leaf will be one that offers you an extended range to truly compete with the other EVs on the market. With the Leafe Plus you will have a 62 kWh battery pack that will allow you to reach an estimated 226 miles of range on a single charge, which is about a 40 percent increase over the standard model. This new version of the Leaf will be offered in three different trim levels which are S Plus, SV Plus, and SL Plus to give you the items you want when it’s time for a drive.

More Power Coming Out of the Motor

The Leaf Plus won’t just be offered with an updated battery, but it will also be powered by a new electric motor. This motor is a 160 kW unit that brings you 214 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive. This is a 45 percent increase over the power of the standard Leaf, giving you the ability to truly enjoy the drive and the acceleration you’ll have in a car that’s run on batteries alone. This added power makes the Leaf Plus more fun on the road during your daily drive.

A Faster Charge for this new Leaf

When you need to charge the new Leaf Plus, you’re going to be able to charge the larger battery pack just as fast as you could in the base model. This is due to the presence of a new 70 kW fast charger that peaks at 100 kW. You’ll be able to charge while working or overnight just like you could in the past and you can expect this car to be ready to drive the next day or at the end of the day when you’re ready to head out on the road.

When will the Leaf Plus Arrive?

The new Leaf Plus is going to be offered for sale in Japan this month and it will make its way to the American dealership network in the spring. We haven’t received the pricing structure for this car just yet but will have that information in the near future. This is an EV that we can be excited about and look forward to becoming the car that we want to drive for several years. As the most popular EV on the market, adding more range, more power, and a better charging system makes this car one that will be the right car for your daily drive.
