Ford Answers the Taxi Needs in Large Cities

Ford Answers the Taxi Needs in Large Cities

As taxi companies face the difficulty of staying in business due to the increased use of the ride-hailing apps such as Uber and Lyft, the need for vehicles that can appropriately replace the Ford Crown Victoria is imminent. Thankfully, the same company that created this highly recognizable car, which has been used as a taxi around the country for many years, has a solution to the challenge for taxi companies. The new taxi that you could ride in when you visit a large city offers a variety of benefits for the taxi company to continue to provide you with the ride you need.

The new 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid Taxi

The outgoing Crown Victoria was a big, thirsty sedan that took a lot of gas in order to operate. Replacing this large model with a hybrid version is certain to make sure the taxi operators can save on fuel costs. The new 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid Taxi is a car that’s based on the Ford Police Responder Hybrid which is a Fusion Hybrid based police car. This new taxi is powered by a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle engine and a small electric motor. With this engine layout under the hood, the Fusion Hybrid Taxi can offer a rating of 30 city/ 38 hwy mpg and a 36 combined total, which is much better than the outgoing large car. This savings on fuel costs will easily allow the taxi companies that make use of this car to put more money back into the operation of the business and profits rather than spending it on fuel that’s sucked into a larger engine. This new taxi also shares the tough, heavy-duty components with the Police Responder including a more durable suspension, performance brakes, a higher ride height, and long-lasting cloth or vinyl upholstery.

Another Ford to Aid Taxi Services

While not quite as much of a change to the fleet as the Fusion, the 2019 Transit Connect Taxi will also be offered from Ford. This minivan is powered by one of two engines. The base model makes use of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, which is a carryover from 2018, while upgraded models make use of a 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine that can bring about the fuel mileage of up to 30 mpg combined. A taxi service that offers shuttles on a regular basis can certainly benefit from the use of the Transit Connect Taxi.

Both the Fusion Hybrid Taxi and the Transit Connect Taxi can be ordered by taxi companies right now. The diesel version of the van will be available from the early part of 2019 going forward. This is certainly an excellent way for Ford to help taxi companies continue to offer the necessary fleet of vehicles that bring people around the cities they live in and visit. The fuel savings over a period of time can add up quickly with the large fleets of taxis used in several of the larger cities in our country.
