Kia Offering a New EV

Kia Offering a New EV

As the Consumer Electronics Show opens up, we’re going to see a new concept car offered by Kia. There have been some teaser images that were released with the idea of keeping the identity of the vehicle shrouded for some time, but the secret identity was quickly revealed with the bright glowing letters in the rear that spell out Niro EV to let us know what this car is. Even without the name across the back, we should have been able to decipher what this car is and understand what we’re going to see at the show.

The Kia Niro is one of the newest models to join the lineup that includes the Optima, Sedona, Sorento, and Sportage that we’ve loved and admired for many years. So far, we’ve seen the Niro in both hybrid and plug-in hybrid production models but this new EV model will be the third version to enter the lineup and give us a look at the commitment that Kia has with the new models their planning for the future of our enjoyment of driving with more efficiency and renewable energy when we head out on the road for the drive.

What do We Expect with the Niro EV

What we see right away from the images we’ve already seen for this car are several style changes that have been made. The headlights look like they are more swept back and have LED strakes to give them the style we’ll be happy to see. The taillights offer a similar design and add a center portion to make the light the full width of the car. There are three-pointed fog lights that are positioned in the front and center of the car to give us an excellent look and the feel we’ll want to see.

We don’t yet know what the range will be of the Niro, this information should be readily available when we see this impressive model shown off at the show. The range might be similar to what the Hyundai Ioniq EV offers considering this is the related brand and the model that shares the platform with the Niro EV. With that in mind, we may see the use of a torsion bar suspension for this new car similar to the Ioniq EV. This would be a difference from the multi-link setup that’s offered on the rest of the Niro and Ioniq models.

If you’re ready to learn more about what the new Niro EV will offer as it becomes a part of the lineup that includes the funky style of the Soul, the efficient driving of the Rio, or the pure beauty of the Optima, you need to check out the coverage of the CES that begins shortly. This will be a car that gives Kia its EV model that has a range that we can use and allow this team to have a car they can build on as we move forward toward more hybrid and EV models that will fill up the model lists of the future.

Looking for something slightly different? Opt for the Kia Sedona.
