It’s here and it’s certainly an exciting model to make the drive and fun you want even more enjoyable than in the past. The new Jeep Wrangler has entered its JL generation with a design that blends a classic look and design with upgraded styling to make sure you have what you’re looking for when you head out on the trails in your area. The upgrades we see in this SUV are more than worth talking about as we take a look at some of the pros and cons of the newest Wrangler that makes this one of the most impressive models for the drive on the trails in the wilderness.
Pros
Upgraded Off-Road Abilities –Even though the Jeep Wrangler was already the most capable SUV in its class for the fun you want to enjoy out on the trails. This new SUV brings you the benefits of a Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case with full-time AWD abilities in the Sahara model. This gives you the benefits of a set it and forget it mindset that allows you to have the ride you want with the departure and approach angles that will take you over a ton of obstacles.
New Powertrains –In the past,we only saw the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 engine under the hood, but now there are two more engines added to the mix to give you more of what you want when you choose this SUV for the drive. There is a 2.0-literturbocharged four-cylinder engine with the eTorque assist model that gives you 268 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. The other option you’ll have will arrive later this year and be a 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine that offers 260 horsepower and 442 lb.-ft. of torque for the drive.
Easier Removal –One of the most impressive aspects of the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited through the years has been the fact that you can take the roof off and fold down the windshield. This has been made easier with no zippers and now there is a power soft top option you can choose when you choose the Sahara or Rubicon models for the drive you’ll want on the roads you travel. The rear windows are also easier to remove to fully open this cabin up for the drive.
Upgraded Standard Equipment –When you choose the new Wrangler you will have a rearview camera, push button starting, cruise control, hill start assist, and five USB ports for the experience you want to enjoy on the roads and trails. The tool used to remove the fasteners for the doors is now standard and the infotainment system is a full seven or 8.4-inches in some of the upper trim levels with the five-inch screen offered on the base model which gives you Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the connectivity you’re looking for.
Better Road Manners –Take the new Wrangler out on the road and you’ll feel more comfortable than you’ve ever felt. This used to be an SUV that would wear you out if you had to travel long distances on the road, but now it has the suspension tuning and aerodynamics to make it more pleasant to drive out on the roads in your area. There is even a reduction in the amount of road noise to make the cabin more comfortable for you’re driving experience.
Cons
Expensive –The upgraded offered in the new Wrangler make it more expensive to purchase, but only by about $3,000, which isn’t a large amount considering the massive number of changes. This is still a reasonably affordable mode that offers you the qualities you’re looking for when you take it out for a drive on the roads and trails in your area to ensure you have the excellent ride you want to enjoy.
Reliability Record for FCA –Even though the FCA team doesn’t have the record of reliability for the models offered that we want to see, the Jeep Wrangler is certainly different and it’s built to be tough and rugged for the drive you want. This shouldn’t be a reason to turn you away from the Wrangler if you want to have the right SUV for the outdoor adventures you’ve imagined.
