We tend to love when a classic look and feel meets the modern safety and engine technology we have on the market. Just take a look at the muscle cars we see in the Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Camaro, and Ford Mustang and you see the classic build that’s mated to modern engine and safety technology for the drive. Now we have one of the most classically built models being offered that has finally embraced the new technology on the market in the form of the new Jeep Wrangler that enters the JL generation with the look we love.
Even though the new Wrangler has the look that we admire and desire, this SUV is one that shows up with the benefit of more engines, more fuel mileage, and upgraded ride on the roads, and the classic style we want to enjoy. The Wrangler can make your fun and active driving experience on the trails even more impressive than before so that you can head out and explore areas that look and feel like they’ve been undiscovered until now. What we have with this new Wrangler is one of the most capable models ever offered for the drive.
What’s Under the Hood?
We will continue to see the power for the new JL Wrangler coming from the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine gives you the choice to use either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission and brings in the drive that you’ll want when you hit the trails. If you’re looking for a new Wrangler that feels the same as it did in the past, this is the version you’re going to want to have for the ride you’re looking for.
One of the biggest changes that’s taken place under the hood of the new Wrangler is the addition of a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This engine pushed out 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque while being attached to the eight-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain gives you a more efficient Jeep Wrangler that offers you a higher torque number for the low-end pull and power that you need to have when it’s time to get out and have a great drive. It might be a difficult choice for you when you head to the dealership to choose between these two powertrains when you want a great ride.
Other Improvements
The new cruise system of the Jeep Wrangler along with the steering allows you to have a ride that’s easier on you than it was in the past. The JK model was known to have steering that would wander, but the new JL model won’t tax you as much and stays straight for you to have the drive you want. The suspension also allows you to have a better ride with a smoother transition on the roads so that you don’t feel like you’ve been beaten up just because you drove your Wrangler.
There is a weight savings across the line of about 200 pounds to give you a feeling of a lighter model and the interior has been upgraded to be modern and attractive while still giving you the easy to clean utility feeling you want so that you can take the Wrangler out for an adventure. You might not be able to hose out the interior as you did in the past, but the electronics offered and the quality build are durable and tough to make sure you won’t cause damage to the Wrangler just because you chose to have some fun on the trails.
Yes, You Want this Jeep
The Jeep Wrangler has always given us something to enjoy and has been one of the most durable and rugged models for us to drive on and off the road. This is now an SUV that’s easy to control on the road, offers you the unstoppable off-road qualities that you need, comes with 33-inch tires as stock, and allows you to enjoy the benefits of a great turbocharged engine. Yes, the Wrangler is still loud on the inside, but that truly is part of the character of this amazing off-road brute.
