Taking the Work Van to the Family

Taking the Work Van to the Family

The work van has gotten smaller over the past few years to make it possible to fit in your garage and have the ability to navigate tight roads and alleyways in the cities it’s used in. One work van we’ve become accustomed to will make its way to the lineup of family minivans that can be enjoyed on the road. This model that is now being offered with the comforts that can be enjoyed with a five or seven-passenger configuration is the 2019 version of the Ford Transit Connect.
Not only will we see this van offered with the family layout needed to make it competitive in a market that feels it’s been shrinking, but this impressive minivan will now be offered with a 1.5-liter EcoBlue diesel engine that will be able to provide us with more than 30 mpg on the highway. If you don’t want the diesel model for the drive, you’ll also see a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that will have the benefits of stop-start features for the drive. Both of these engines are attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission to give you the drive you’re looking for.

More for the Ride

In previous model years, the Ford Transit Connect was a work van that could haul the cargo you had or be set up as a shuttle service for airports and hotels. With the family configuration, you can choose to have a large amount of modern technology for the drive. These items include automatic emergency braking, pre-collision assist, pedestrian detection, and the 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection that allows up to ten devices to be supported when on the road. These features make it easy for you to benefit from the technology you desire in this minivan.

If you want more than these items, you can choose a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen in the dashboard, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, cross traffic alerts, and lane keeping assist. There are two wheelbases to give you the size you want with room for five or seven people to be comfortable in the three trim levels of XL, XLT, and Titanium. If you have a small trailer you want to take with you when you drive, there is an available trailer tow package that gives you up to 2,000 pounds of capability when you head out on the road.

The claim from Ford is this new minivan will be the lowest-priced seven-passenger vehicle offered in the US when it goes on sale in the fall. That’s certainly going to allow this minivan to be seriously competitive when you take it on the roads in your area with your family. Take a look at the video below and see if this new van can be the right one for you and your family with either the diesel or gasoline engine providing the power desired. Ford has reentered the competitive market of minivans that we see offered for the future of family driving.

Want something just a little bit smaller? Then try out the Ford Edge. This SUV has all the features and space you need to cart around your crew, all while being just a little but more compact than a work van.
