These new Toyota pods could be powered by batteries to make them some of the most eco-friendly and useful vehicles we can drive.
Toyota pods are models that will be offered to solve many of the mobility challenges we currently face for the daily ride we need to experience. As we see different automakers move closer to offering us autonomous technology it appears the Toyota brand will arrive with it and a specialty vehicle much sooner than we might expect.
Toyota Pods Make a Difference
The idea of self-driving pods for the future of mobility is what we could see on the road from this brand by the year 2020. These new pods will make their first appearance at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show and they will be called the e-Palette Concept vehicle to be an interesting new vehicle for us to make use of and give us a new way to get around.
This new model will make use of the new Global Mobility Services Platform to develop a vehicle that could be used for a variety of services and businesses that make deliveries or need to offer the benefit of mobility services that can improve the experience we have when getting around.
Testing is Yet to be Done for the Toyota Pods
The testing for the e-Palette Concept has yet to begin and it won’t until the year 2020, but this is something that we should keep an eye on for the excellent solutions it will provide. There will be three different sizes for this concept with different lengths based upon the purpose the model is built for.
There is a flat and barrier-free interior area that is designed to offer a low floor that can make it easier to get people and gear inside the vehicle to make this a useful model for a variety of applications that we’re sure to experience. The first place we should expect to see this new model used is with ride-sharing.
Sharing the Toyota Pods
There is a huge movement in the automotive industry away from the single owner models into ones that are built to be shared and enjoyed.
Imagine staying at a hotel and having a selection of these mobility pods that can take you from your hotel to the golf course, the shopping center, to the movies, or to the restaurant of your choice.
Some hotels offer such a service now, but require a person to be employed to drive you where you need to go.
Mobility Made Better
In addition to offering this service as something that could be an added benefit for a business, those who are elderly or disabled and cannot drive themselves might want to make use of these vehicles through a subscription service that can allow a vehicle to show up, pick them up and allow them to go where they need to go on a daily basis.
