If you make it to be a century old or older, every year should be an amazing and grand celebration. While at this age you might not want to be bothered, living this long is certainly something special, just like being in business for this long can be something special for a car brand. The Cadillac brand is celebrating 115 years of being in the automotive world, during which this brand has seen every peak and valley of this industry and it has survived to continue to be one of the most respected car brands in the business.
How Is Cadillac Celebrating?
In order to make this a special celebration, Cadillac has created a special edition of the Cadillac CTS-V. This car is being called the Glacier Metallic Edition and it is being painted in a smoky light gray paint, has illuminated door handles, dark red Brembo brakes and special Midnight Silver 19-inch wheels. There will be a limited number of these cars made with only 115 being created to be one of the rarest Cadillac models ever produced.
On the inside of the car, Cadillac is adding Jet Black Recaro Sport seats, an Ultra View sunroof, the Rear Camera Mirror, the next generation of the CUE infotainment system and the Cosworth Toolbox analysis software. There will also be improvements to the Performance Traction Management system with the five modes being upgraded from the development and engineering study that was performed with the Pratt & Miller Cadillac Racing team that was competing in the Pirelli World Challenge series. The engine under the hood is the same 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 which produces 640 horsepower and 630 lb.-ft. of torque while making use of the eight-speed automatic transmission to give the drive and performance expected from this sports luxury car.
The Cost and Packaging
Now that we know what this new Glacier Metallic Edition car will be, let’s talk about the cost. This car will start at $103,885, which is nearly $20,000 more than a regular Cadillac CTS. Yes, this may be worth the extra cost because it’s a rare car by being only one of 115 that will be made. The extra cost comes from the exclusive content, the carbon fiber upgrades that include the front splitter, hood vent, rear spoiler and rear diffuser. This car also uses the Luxury package as the standard package with Tri-zone climate controls, heated rear seats and rear sunshades.
The first 105 of the 115 will begin production this month and will arrive a various Cadillac dealerships across the country before the end of the year. The other ten will be made later to replenish inventory in faster-selling location. This car will come with a paid tuition to the 2-day Cadillac V-Performance Academy at Spring Mountain in Pahrump, NV. If you plan to buy one of these cars you need to follow it closely on the website and see if the dealership will accept a preorder. This will be a car that celebrates over a century of luxury excellence the right way.
